Women's contributions throughout history have often been overlooked, yet their impact spans every era, culture, and discipline. This course highlights ten influential women - some widely recognised, others less well known - whose stories reveal the enduring power, resilience, and creativity of women around the world.
From Ada Lovelace, a pioneer in computer science, to Sojourner Truth, a symbol of courage and civil rights, to Malala Yousafzai, a young advocate for education in the face of extremism, these women represent diverse fields including science, activism, law, art, music, and environmentalism. Their lives challenge historical stereotypes and demonstrate that women have long played critical roles in shaping history, often under immense pressure and adversity.
Through their stories, the course explores themes of innovation, resistance, leadership, and self-expression. These women stand not only as examples of individual achievement but also as sources of inspiration for students navigating their own paths and ambitions today.
